Individual Support

If you're finding things difficult — at work, at home, or both — you don't have to keep pushing through alone.

At Well Balanced Minds, we provide individual psychological support for adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, burnout, and work-related difficulties. Our approach is warm, practical, and grounded in evidence — tailored to you, not a template.

Sessions are available on a self-funded, employer-funded, or insurance basis.

All therapy is delivered by Dr. Mark Doyle, BPS Chartered Psychologist and BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, based in Portadown, Co. Armagh.

Psychological Therapy

Therapy at Well Balanced Minds is one-to-one, confidential, and built around your specific needs and goals. Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are delivered in person at our Portadown therapy room or online, depending on your preference.

We work with a wide range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, panic, and worry

  • Low mood and depression

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Workplace difficulties and conflict

  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism

  • Adjustment difficulties and life transitions

  • Complex or long-standing emotional difficulties

Our therapeutic approach draws on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Compassion-Focused Therapy, and elements of Schema Therapy — integrated to best fit your presentation rather than applied rigidly.

What to expect?

Your first appointment is an initial assessment — a chance for us to understand what you're experiencing, what you're hoping for, and whether we're the right fit. There's no pressure to commit to anything at that stage.

From there, we agree a plan together. Some people need a focused, short-term piece of work. Others benefit from longer-term support. We'll be honest with you about what's likely to help and how long it might take.

Everything discussed in sessions is confidential, with the limited exceptions required by law (such as serious risk of harm). We'll explain this fully at your first appointment.

Managerial Consultation

Managing someone who is struggling psychologically can feel uncertain — especially when you want to do the right thing but aren't sure what that looks like in practice.

Our managerial consultation service offers confidential, psychologically informed guidance for managers and HR professionals dealing with complex or sensitive employee situations.

This might include:

  • Understanding how a mental health condition may be affecting someone's work

  • Deciding what reasonable adjustments might be appropriate

  • How to have a supportive conversation with a member of staff

  • Navigating a return to work sensitively and effectively

  • Managing a team following a critical incident or period of significant stress.

This service does not involve direct contact with the employee and does not constitute a clinical assessment or diagnosis. It is consultative, practical, and confidential.

Return to Work
Psychological Assessments

A structured psychological assessment designed to support individuals returning to work following mental health-related absence. The focus is on psychological readiness, coping capacity, and workplace support needs, with clear, practical recommendations to aid a safe and sustainable return.

Please note: This assessment does not determine medical fitness for work and does not replace occupational health or medical opinion.

Who is this for?

This assessment is suitable for:

  • Individuals who have been absent from work due to mental health difficulties and are considering a return

  • Employers or HR teams who want a psychological perspective to inform a return-to-work plan

  • Occupational health professionals seeking a specialist psychological input alongside their own assessment

A written report with clear, practical recommendations is provided following the assessment, which can be shared — with your consent — with your employer, HR team, or occupational health provider.
